Peruvian Paso horses

Summer Festival, Frontier Days and
Horses of the West

August 7 & 8 from 10 am - 4 pm

Mountain men will demonstrate their skills and spin tales of the past at encampments
throughout the ranch. Peruvian Paso horse shows and a “Carousel
of Horses,” including Lipizzaner, Arab, Pure Spanish and more. John Carson, Kit
Carson’s great-great grandson, will do a Chautauqua presentation as Kit both days.
Flint-knapping, hide tanning, and other hands-on fun for the whole family.

August 8 from 10 am - 4 pm

1710 -2010
 The Families of Las Golondrinas will celebrate the 300th anniversary of the founding of the historic Ranch of the Swallows with a reunion Sunday August 8th from 10:00 to 4:00.  Festival admission fees apply for this event. Family members are invited to bring a picnic lunch and visit with other members while enjoying the festivities of Summer Festival. Families with pedigree charts are invited to post them in Placita Ortiz to share with visitors and family members alike. Stop at the bookstore and receive your family reunion packet before leaving. Please join us on this very special occasion.

"New Mexico Roundup: Heroes and Villains from the Past"
August 14-15 from 10 am - 4 pm

Interact one-on-one with some of the most famous and infamous characters in New Mexico's history. Chautauqua presentations with Dona Tules, Kit Carson, Pat Garrett, Old Bill Williams, La Llorona, Buffalo Soldiers and others.
